Dear Peggy…
Good Goddess….40 years…? :sighs…Amazing how time flies when you’re having fun!!
It’s amazing that you found me…and I’m truly glad of it!
Well, as you know, I live in a suburb of Buffalo…I know it seems strange that anyone would WANT to live in Buffalo, but I love it here…:laughing…I’ve been here for almost 34 years…
After I graduated from Wisconsin, I kind of went on the road…a hippie kind of thing back then…lived in Philadelphia, New York City, and Vineland, NJ for awhile…was on my way to CA when I got to Buffalo and ran out of gas..I thought maybe it was a sign to quit travelling, so I got an apartment, and got a teaching position as a Special-Ed teacher, which I am to this day…I had this great next-door neighbor…he became my best friend…and, since I couldn’t bear the thought of him ever having another “best friend”, I married him…and we celebrate our 33rd anniversary in August…we own two flower shops and 4 monkeys, so we keep busy…:laughing…we were having such a good time, the years sneaked by, and we never had children…but I have lots of “kids”…and my nieces are in my back pocket all the time…
Thank you for you condolences about Dad…he had a stroke in October of ’93, and while he lived in the house until about ’97, he wasn’t able to walk or speak well, but his mind was good…my mother was failing badly due to Alzheimer’s, and couldn’t care for him as he should be, so they both decided to go to Oakwood…my mother was there only about 6 months when she choked to death in the Day Room, while left un-attended…That was in October of ’98…and dad wasn’t the same…he died in November of last year…
We will be gone for the month of August…:sighs…we are taking a month-long trip to Jamaica to see some friends there…but do please send me all the information on the Reunion anyway…It’s been SO long since I’ve seen to talked to anyone from school…:smiles…and I was thrilled to get your letter…I’m truly a computer fanatic, so I’m really glad you have an e-mail address…:smiles
Give everyone my love…especially to Karen…she and I go back to first grade…like you and I…:smiles
I’ll send along a picture taken of me taken in October with a friend from Connecticut…I’m the blonde…who else would call herself Lady Flame in the chatrooms…:laughing
Again, thank you for writing me…and write again…
“Here’s to you, our maize and blue…Forever, West Side High!”
